The giclée printing technology does not exist in the Netherlands very long. The technique is specifically developed to meet the critical demands of art collectors for having high quality copies of original paintings and so on. The original artwork of my giclée prints however is made by myself using DTP programs like Photoshop, Painter, or others.
What I like the most in the giclée printing is its very high fineness of the printing, its sharpness and high degree of details and of course its warm colors and color transitions. Giclée printings have a velvety appearance.
The word Giclée is French origin and means' rays' or 'spray', as an indication for a technique that uses continuous ink jets for the application of the different ink layers.
Although relatively unknown in the Dutch market, in the U.S. the giclée printing technique is already generally accepted. Even American museums are more and more ready to exhibit giclée prints of original artwork in order to protect the original against outside influences. In addition, this technique is also used nowadays to create original works of art.

Initially I was somewhat reluctance with regard to this technique. However, if the 'rules' that are linked with for instance lithographs and silkscreen printing shall be maintained with regards to impression, etc there are not many arguments against this technique; finally, the silkscreen uses also a kind of nebulisation technique with his use of fine grids. The giclée prints are signed and numbered by the artist himself.
