Since 1982 I have been fascinated by the possibilities that the traditional etching techniques are offering me as a graphic artist. To create my impressions and stories, I can use various techniques such as line etching with or without hatching, the more uniform aquatints in order to be able to print uniform colors, but also techniques and the vernis mou, mezzotint and the like. In my etchings I actually am a storyteller. Travel Impressions, but also spontaneous ideas often form the basis for a new etching to come. Frequently an etching consists of several smaller images, so if it were a comic strip.

In the beginning I have made use of multiple plates to print a color etching, but in recent years, all colors are put on a single etching plate, the so called à la poupée technique. This gives better color transitions and the print shows more harmony.
I still find it an exciting experience to see the first print. The printing itself - in the traditional manner as is done for many centuries - is a very interesting experience. |
